Thanks
for supporting Dave as he again ran the grueling Badwater 135 ultra marathon
to support the Hope Chest For Women. They are an organization committed
to providing limited financial assistance for Western North Carolina women
diagnosed with breast or gynecologic cancer and who are experiencing economic
difficulties due to treatment cost. Dave also ran to honor his sister
Teresa.
The Badwater is toughest footrace on the planet. The race is held in July
at Death Valley where temperatures can reach 130 degrees. Only 90 are invited
from around the world. Dave finished 15th overall in 2006 and 10th in 2008.
For more on Dave's training and the race itself, please see an article
published on May 5th from the Hendersonville Times-News:

In
Dec. of 2004, Teresa was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer resulting
in invasive surgery and months of chemo-therapy treatments. Teresa is currently
cancer free and doing well. Ovarian cancer has historically received much
less attention than other diseases and has often been misdiagnosed. Please
help raise awareness to benefit The HOPE CHEST for WOMEN and to honor Teresa
as she lives with this disease.
