RUNNING FOR HOPE
On July 12th, 2010 I ran the Badwater 135 for the third time to benefit The Hope Chest for Women, and to honor my sister Teresa, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. For more information, or to donate, please click here.
THANKS TO ALL SUPPORTERS AND BUSINESS SPONSORS WHO MADE MY PARTICIPATION IN THIS RACE POSSIBLE, INCLUDING:

MY MISSION is to promote a healthy lifestyle by implementing a balanced program of
  • Nutrition
  • Strength Training
  • Cardiovascular Training
  • Flexibility
With these pillars in place, there is great potential for vast improvements in health, vitality and body composition.

After making a decision to engage in a fitness program, there will be an evaluation to determine limitations, if any, and to establish a baseline from which progress can be measured. We will then discuss what type of program will best suit your needs and goals.

Your program will be changed periodically in order to obtain optimum results while preventing staleness, overuse injuries, over-training and plateaus.

My desire as a trainer is that you will see and feel the difference that a well balanced program brings. This will result in renewed motivation and adherence.

Athletic Accomplishments

At the age of 16, I began lifting weights and have continued for 36 years. During that time, I added running for cardiovascular health and have been doing that for 21 years.

In 1997, I completed my first marathon and since then I have finished numerous marathons and ultra marathons.

After running 5 Boston Marathons (2000-2004), I moved on to ultras where I have completed race distances from 50 to
135 miles (no sleep) but the Badwater 135 is my favorite, said to be the toughest footrace on the planet. The race is held in July at Death Valley where temperatures can reach 130 degrees. Only 90 are invited from around the world. I finished 15th overall in 2006 and 10th in 2008.

Not bad for a guy that in his twenties could not run a quarter mile without getting out of breath! This gives me incredible hope for anyone who has the desire and will to change.

Testimonials

When I accepted the challenge of working with Dave Horner as my personal trainer, I entered into an experience where I continue to receive more than I ever anticipated. He has provided a carefully balanced program of building strength, endurance, and safety in an atmosphere of encouragement and trust.  In just a few weeks of training he has brought me to a level of physical activity beyond what I ever envisioned for myself, including running for miles several times a week.  Dave’s knowledge and application of anatomy, physiology and kinesiology is outstanding.  He is motivating, compassionate and a true friend.

I highly recommend Dave Horner  as a personal trainer to provide help and hope in achieving a healthy lifestyle.
